Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Morocco as the new host of the 2018 edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Morocco was handed the hosting rights after and emergency meeting of CAF Executive Committee which held in Nigeria on Saturday.
It should be recalled that Kenya was earlier designated to host the tournament. The East African nation however lost the hosting right due to poor preparation and inability to provide the required facilities for such an event.
The new host came tops after competition from Equatorial Guinea and Africa new economic powerhouse, Ethiopia.
Moroccan capital, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech and Tangier are the cities where the championship will take place.
African Nations Championship (CHAN) is CAF regulated competition for African based footballers playing in the various leagues in their countries. The next edition is scheduled for January next year.
