Super Eagles slip down in FIFA ranking, now 51st in the world

Nigeria’s Super Eagles of have been ranked as the 51st best footballing nation in the world. The current ranking position is from the latest release by FIFA and it will be the last for the outgoing year.

The latest ranking saw the Super Eagles move down 10 places from their 41st position in the last exercise by the football governing body. Nigeria also drop down two positions to 9th in Africa.

Germany, Brazil and Portugal retained the top three places in the latest FIFA rankings released Thursday.

There was little movement in the FIFA charts with Argentina and Belgium completing the top five and 2018 World Cup hosts Russia placed 64th.

The top 10 Africa countries FIFA ranking shows Senegal as retaining the top spot while Nigeria is in ninth place.

The Super Eagles have been grouped with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in next summer FIFA World Cup taking place in Russia.
